As the issue of industrial accidents emerged in South Korea, the Serious Accident Punishment Act was implemented. In accordance with this law, workplaces are required to conduct worker health management.
Wonju Severance Christian Hospital (WSCH) provides health management agency services (HMAS) for workplaces in the Gangwon State. However, health management for manufacturing workers at workplaces is conducted passively and only to comply with the law. Manufacturing workers can still not receive quality health management due to insufficient supply. The UNIST research team had the opportunity to study how to increase the supply of this service and manage the daily health of manufacturing workers.
In the Health Management Platform Development Project for Manufacturing Workers, the UNIST research team understood overall HMAS by WSCH to identify problems and to achieve project objectives. The research team listened to the stories of health managers from WSCH, HR managers from the workplace, medical staff, and manufacturing workers and developed the digital platform Myle that reflects their opinions and the research team’s insights.
Through this study, designers can refer to this user-centered process of understanding the context of health management and medical staff and design a digital service that meets their needs. In addition, the features of the Myle platform can be used for services that help with population health management, daily health, and the digital healthcare field.
