SuLi – Mobile app for sustainable lifestyle

Annually hosted by the Industrial Designers Society of America (IDSA) since 1980, IDEA, is one of three most prestigious and influential design competitions in the world.

SuLi is a mobile app to help users find sustainable products online by providing each product with a sustainability index. The app also provides an online forum to share information about everyday recycling. The forum also works as a place for exchanging methods and knowledge about alternative ways of living. Moreover, SuLi encourages users’ self-motivation through the reward system for individuals and groups.

Sustainable lifestyles have become important for many people, but it is not easy to achieve such lifestyles. SuLi is a companion app to support users’ everyday practices to reduce the negative impact on the environment, animals, nature, and the ecosystem.

SuLi는 다양한 상품에 대한 지속 가능성 지수를 제공하여 온라인에서 지속 가능한 상품을 찾을 수 있게 돕는 모바일 앱이다. 이 앱은 일상에서의 재활용 정보를 공유할 수 있는 온라인 포럼 또한 제공하며, 포럼은 사용자들이 대안적인 삶을 위한 방법과 지식을 교환하는 장소로 작동한다. 또한, 개인 뿐 아니라 단체를 대상으로 하는 보상 시스템을 통해 사용자의 동기 부여를 유도한다.

지속 가능한 생활 방식은 많은 사람에게 중요성을 더하게 되었지만 그러한 생활 방식을 구현하는 것은 쉽지 않다. SuLi는 환경, 동물, 자연 및 생태계에 대한 부정적인 영향을 줄이기 위해 사용자의 일상적 습관을 돕는 동반자와 같은 앱이다.

Problems

Lack of awareness and interest in environmental issues. Lack of awareness of alternative sustainable products. Users are aware of alternative sustainable products, but there is a lack of purchase information. Even though users acquire needed information, however, their options are not so convenient. Thus, their interest doesn’t lead to sustainable actions and purchases.

SuLi Sustainability Index

SuLi has created four sustainable indicators for sustainable product validation. They are classified into reducing plastic waste, water saving, wood saving, and reducing CO2, which are presented in the symbols of straw, faucet, paper, and vehicle fume, respectively. SuLi intentionally visualizes four sustainable indicators to daily activity so that users can easily understand the effects.

SuLi Sustainable Market

Users can explore and purchase eco-friendly products at SuLi Sustainable Market. They can also obtain various information about sustainable products available in the market. SuLi encourages sustainable consumption by providing intuitive information about the positive impact of user actions through a sustainability index.

SuLi Sustainable Forum

Users can get knowledge and updates on environmental issues by curated daily keywords. They can sharpen their perspectives by exchanging opinions with others in the community about issues around sustainability and environment. Users can explore others’ perspectives and express their own opinions.

SuLi Sustainable Point

SuLi encourages users’ self-motivation. It provides mileage point, which can be acquired also by groups of individual users. The mileage points are based on the accumulated contributions of users’ activities and consumption, providing positive feedback to celebrate users’ meaningful actions.

Daily Life with SuLi

SuLi is made for people who are hesitating to lead a sustainable life. Through SuLi, small parts of sustainable life turn into more actionable and eco-friendly ideas are cultivated by the people in SuLi community. SuLi consistently motivates people to maintain their sustainable life with pride.
