Design Futures Lab

In the Design Futures Lab, we critically investigate the implications of emerging AI technologies on people and society, and explore designerly interventions to shape AI futures that people truly want. While we embrace new possibilities enabled by AI, we also question and challenge dominant assumptions and practices surrounding technology-driven development. Leveraging human-centered and participatory design approaches, we collaborate with diverse stakeholders to co-create responsible and meaningful ways of embedding AI into everyday life. Through this process, we aim to generate practical knowledge and methodologies for designing meaningful human experiences with future AI products, services, and systems.

디자인 퓨처스 연구실은 고도로 발전하는 데이터 및 인공지능 기술이 사람과 사회에 미치는 영향을 비판적으로 탐구하고, 사람들이 진정으로 원하는 AI 미래를 만들어가기 위한 디자이너적 개입(designerly intervention)을 실천하는 연구실입니다. 우리는 새로운 인공지능 기술에 대해 사람들이 느끼는 감정, 기대, 거부감 등의 경험에 주목하며, AI의 긍정적 가능성과 잠재적 위험을 비판적으로 탐구하고, 보다 바람직한 AI 경험을 위해 대안적 디자인 방향을 모색합니다. 이 과정에서 우리는 디자인을 ‘해결책’을 만드는 수단이 아닌, 질문을 제기하고 미래를 상상하는 도구로 활용합니다. 이를 통해 AI의 단기적 효율이나 기능을 넘어, 보다 지속적으로 우리의 일상에 도움이 되고 자연스럽게 인간과 공존할 수 있는 AI개발에 기여하고자 합니다.
